The Community Governed
Organic Panchayat Model

A village does not become organic because one farmer decides to. The whole panchayat decides, and it is verified at every step. This is the eight-step roadmap Jeetendra pioneered in Rajasthan.
  1. Mobilization

The stall and corner meetings build public opinion against pesticides, chemical fertilisers, hormones and antibiotics.

  2. Panchayat resolution

An official ban on harmful chemicals in agriculture and dairy.

  3. Pledge ceremony

The community publicly pledges against chemical fertilisers and pesticides in farming and animal husbandry.

  4. Clean Zone committee

A committee supervises organic agriculture and livestock practices.

  5. Training and certification

Farmers are organised into groups for organic farming training and certification.

  6. Government registration

Registration under PGS, Jaivik Bharat, NPOP and APEDA.

  7. Women’s producer company

Women form a Farmer Producer Company to market locally produced organic goods.

  8. Global market access

Certified produce reaches global markets and fetches premium prices.

The result: a prosperous, climate-smart panchayat with lower greenhouse gas emissions and better livelihoods.
